I couldn't resist the rhyme!   Pansies are from the Viola family of garden flowers.  They are so hardy and they are one of my favourites.  I'll be painting a few more of these this month!  Soon I'll be able to get these from the nursery for the front step!

Did you know that a tansy is a wildflower and is a member of the aster family?   Originally from Europe, it was introduced to North America in the 1600's...so its been around for awhile and some provinces/states consider it a noxious invasive plant.     When we lived in North Delta, near Vancouver, I frequently saw tansy in Burns Bog, a wonderful place that the boys, dog and I walked.  I'll see if I can find some photos and paint it!

What are your favourite flowers??  and Why??  Let me know...maybe I'll paint them!

I think I had a tansy plant in my garden in the last few years. If it springs up again this year, I'll let you know, then you can come and take pictures (or even a cutting)!
I actually don't know if I have a favourite flower- hmm. Might have to think about that. But I think it would have to be something that smells nice and/or is edible or medicinal.

If only you good do a scratch and sniff painting of the sweet violets that grow here in the spring. :)
I love tulips...and...do pussy willows count?
But my FAV are Blue Hydrangea. My great-grandmother had them on either side of the stairs on the house SHE built (she was a pioneer) in Vancouver. There is also a lovely little wrought iron bench tucked away in a quiet corner of Disneyland that is graced by Hydrangea's. Granny Pahl also had Wallflowers. They smell divine.
Your pansy is so sweet. It's beautiful. Love the floral theme. :)

My favourite flowers are the ones that survive my lack of gardening knowledge and neglect yet still manage to surprise me with wonderful displays of colour!
Of course now I have moved from damp soggy England to the dry hot Okanagan I am going to have to discover a whole new selection of hardy fool-proof blooms - all advice welcomed!
Aside from that I agree with Angelika that anything that smells good/ is medicinal or edible works for me - Lavender, Nasturtium, marigold, Sage, Borage, Geranium, Honeysuckle, Jasmin, Orange blossom, Magnolia .. ooooh I am in Paradise! :o)

Your Pansy turned out great! Wow - you've got it. I have some tansy too - the birds planted it for me and I was thrilled. It is a useful plant - I don't care what anyone else says!!
